Create an SMS QR code

An SMS QR code can open a compatible messaging app with a recipient number and optional message already filled in. The person scanning can review and edit the draft; scanning does not send the message.

How to create an SMS QR code

  1. Enter the recipient number, including the country code when needed.
  2. Add an optional message of up to 160 characters.
  3. Scan the live preview and confirm the correct number and message appear.
  4. Choose a file format and select Download.

This generator creates a static SMSTO: payload. The number and message cannot be edited after download, and the code has no built-in delivery reporting or scan analytics. Messaging apps differ in how they interpret QR payloads, so test on both iOS and Android when both matter to your audience.
